In oral exam, why just one section to prepare. Are these sections optional?

i have one query. i did assessment in sep-2023 and appeared exam on dec-2023 but not able to pass. after that i was on ship. Now i want to a appear again in FEB 2025. for this i have to do again assessment or my last assessment is valid. My last assessment is valid for how much time? please help me on above query.
