Life on ship- Bulk carrier vs oil tanker

Bulk Carrier V/S Oil Tanker – Which is better?

Working on a ship is not an easy job. It requires hard work, dedication, and resilience. When you join the Merchant Navy, you have to prepare yourself that you are going there to do hard work, to become successful and to earn money. You must have a mindset to work hard and enjoy the experience, rather than looking for the type of ship i.e. bulk carrier, tanker or other, easy jobs and lavish lifestyles.

Recently, I received a message from one of my students. He told me that he had joined a bulk carrier, while his friend had asked for a tanker and got it. His friend had warned him that life on a tanker was hard, so he decided to go for the bulk carrier. This attitude is not a good one to have. It shows that he is not ready to face challenges and is not willing to work hard.

Hard Work and Rewards

Hard Work and Rewards

Both bulk carriers and oil tankers have their own set of challenges and rewards. Choosing a ship should not be based solely on the perceptions or opinions of others. It is up to the individual to make the best of their situation and thrive in their career.

Fear should not be a factor when choosing a ship. You must be ready to face challenges and try to achieve success.

It is important to understand that working on a ship is not just a job. It is a way of life. You have to be mentally prepared for the challenges that come with it.

Whether you are on a bulk carrier or a tanker, you will have to work hard. But, if you have the right mindset and attitude, you can enjoy the experience and make the most of it.

Life on a Bulk Carrier

Working on a bulk carrier can be challenging, but it can also be enjoyable. You can have drinks if you like, and there can be barbecue parties happening. You can also have longer port stays if you compare it to oil tankers.

However, these should not be the reasons for choosing a bulk carrier over an oil tanker. You should be focused on earning money and achieving success in your career.

On the other hand, working on an oil tanker can also be challenging, but it can be equally rewarding. The workload on oil tankers is intense and requires a high level of professionalism, discipline, and teamwork.

You can learn a lot from the experience and gain valuable skills. It can also lead to better career prospects and higher earnings.

Choosing the Right Ship

Choosing the Right Ship

When it comes to choosing a ship, you should consider your own preferences and goals. You should choose the ship that you feel will be the best fit for you.

If you have sailed on both bulk carriers and oil tankers and then decide to choose one over the other, that is fine. But, if you have not sailed on either of them and are making a decision based on hearsay, then that is not a good approach.

Choosing a ship should not be based on the perceived level of difficulty. You should be prepared to face challenges and work hard regardless of which ship you choose. Your attitude and mindset are what will determine your success. You must be ready to work hard, be resilient, and enjoy the experience.

which of them give more knowledges, experiences and which is more risked

Aman Manwal

Hi Martial, both of them provides amazing opportunity for seafarers the only difference there is in these two types of ship is in the salary and the work that you have to do. As far as risked is concerned tanker are definitely more riskier as it carries dangerous cargo however, it also comes with more security measure and checklists.
